Postbank, the brand of Eurobank Bulgaria, says customers will be able to invest in crypto assets, international shares, ETFs, commodities and precious metals directly from its mobile app from early 2027. The bank announced the plan this week alongside new usage figures for Postbank App. It makes Postbank the latest mainstream lender to put crypto next to stocks in an everyday banking app. Eurobank Bulgaria ranked fourth among Bulgarian banks by total assets in the central bank's June 30 data, as EconoTimes noted.

What the bank has promised

  • Assets: shares in "thousands of international companies," exchange-traded funds, crypto assets, commodities, gold and other metals.
  • Small tickets: investing with small amounts and fractional purchases of certain assets.
  • Partner: the service will run through a partnership with a "world-renowned international investment platform." Postbank has not named it.
  • Timing: launch planned for the start of 2027, with no exact date.

The numbers behind the move

Postbank tied the plan to rapid growth in mobile banking during the first nine months of 2026:

  • payment volume through the app up 71% year on year;
  • the number of payments up nearly 47%;
  • active mobile banking users up 32%, with customers opening the app more than 20 times a month on average.

Other features on the roadmap include an AI assistant, a separate app for under-18s and a redesigned digital lending process.

Why it matters

Banks across Europe and beyond are folding crypto into existing apps rather than leaving customers to dedicated exchanges — from Schwab's US rollout to Sberbank's approval in Russia. For first-time buyers, a bank app removes a sign-up step, but it does not change the basics covered in our guide on how to buy bitcoin, such as whether you can withdraw coins to your own wallet.
