Solana leads stablecoin transfers with record 557M in September
Solana says it processed a record 557 million stablecoin transfers in September, up 33% and just ahead of BNB Chain's 543 million. Counts, not dollars.

Solana handled more stablecoin transfers than any other blockchain in September — a record 557 million, up 33% from August. The network's official account shared the figures, citing Blockworks data, and Crypto Briefing reported that it edged out BNB Chain by 14 million transfers.
The figures
- Solana: 557 million stablecoin transfers in September, a new monthly high.
- Daily average: about 18.6 million transfers.
- Month on month: +33% compared with August.
- Runner-up: BNB Chain with about 543 million — so Solana's lead is roughly 2.6%.
What the number does — and doesn't — show
A transfer count measures how often stablecoins move, not how much money moves. Cheap, fast networks such as Solana and BNB Chain naturally rack up large counts: small payments, trading-bot activity and app transactions all add up, and a single large settlement between institutions counts the same as a $1 tip. Rankings by dollar volume or by the supply of stablecoins held on each chain can look quite different, and those figures were not part of this release. Nor did the shared figures break the total down by individual stablecoin, such as USDC or USDT.
Still, the trend matters for Solana's pitch as a payments network. Stablecoins — tokens pegged to currencies such as the US dollar — are the most widely used product in crypto, and the chain that carries the most everyday transactions has a strong argument with payment companies and wallets. Context
The record lands during a busy period for the network. Fidelity's digital-assets research arm recently found Solana resilient but flagged areas to keep watching in its network health report, and the chain is preparing its Alpenglow consensus upgrade, which aims to make transactions final much faster. Faster finality would strengthen the payments case further — though whether September's count turns into lasting dollar volume is something only the coming months' data can show.
