US spot crypto ETFs lost a net $610.7 million over the five trading days from 12 to 16 October, and for once ether funds, not bitcoin funds, led the exodus. That is the total across five Farside Investors flow tables compiled by crypto.news. It is still a big improvement on the previous week, when the same funds lost about $1.29 billion. Current prices are in the snapshot above; it refreshes with every site rebuild.

Flows by asset

  • Ether ETFs: −$320.1 million. BlackRock's ETHA alone lost about $299 million, roughly 93% of the total. Fidelity's FETH was the only notable gainer at +$10.5 million.
  • Bitcoin ETFs: −$228.4 million, despite a strong Tuesday intake of $175.7 million. BlackRock's IBIT lost $165.4 million and Fidelity's FBTC $60.2 million, while Morgan Stanley's MSBT (+$6.7 million) and Bitwise's BITB (+$2.2 million) took in money.
  • Others: Solana funds lost $25.5 million with outflows every day, the Zcash product $19.2 million and Hyperliquid funds $17.5 million.

Bitcoin and ether together made up about 90% of the week's net outflow.

The daily pattern

Tuesday was the only day with combined net inflows (+$194.3 million). Wednesday was the worst, with $393.4 million leaving, followed by $90.1 million on Thursday and $166 million on Friday. Earlier in the month, on 7 October, bitcoin funds suffered their largest one-day outflow since late June.

A separate CoinShares report, covering global investment products with a different cut-off, counted $434 million of outflows for its week. It linked them to shifting interest-rate expectations after US inflation and retail sales data. Farside's tables record flows only and do not assign causes.

Context

ETF flows show what one group of mostly institutional and advisory investors is doing; they are not a price forecast. The weekly loss is small compared with the funds' total assets, but steady redemptions can force issuers to sell underlying coins. Our Friday market wrap has more on the late-week mood, and VanEck separately withdrew its staked-ether ETF plan. Weighing a fund against owning coins yourself? See bitcoin ETF vs buying bitcoin.
