Bitcoin was little changed on Friday at around $82,100, while smaller tokens did the running: celestia (TIA) jumped 16%, injective (INJ) rose 7.7% and layerzero (ZRO) added 7.3%, according to CoinDesk's market wrap published at about 10:40 UTC. Live prices for the majors are in the snapshot above and refresh each time the site rebuilds.

Majors

  • Bitcoin bounced from a dip to about $81,600 around 03:30 UTC and stayed comfortably above Thursday's brief drop below $80,000 — its first in a month (we covered that two-hour dip and rebound).
  • Ether gained about 0.5% to near $2,450; solana rose 1.2% to about $107, XRP 0.5% and monero 2.9% to roughly $565, while BNB barely moved.
  • CoinMarketCap's Altcoin Season index climbed to 60 from 50 a day earlier, and about four in five CoinDesk 100 members were higher.

The movers

  • Celestia (TIA), a data-availability network, rose to about $0.68, its highest level of 2026 and up roughly 59% over four weeks. The run coincides with a 3.07 terabits-per-second throughput benchmark for Celestia Fibre and a proposed "Sustainable Blob Economy" upgrade.
  • Injective (INJ) climbed to about $9.19 with no single catalyst; three US ETF applications tied to the token are pending, and 24-hour volume jumped 128% to $289.7 million (CoinMarketCap data).
  • LayerZero (ZRO) reached about $2.24, extending a rally linked to its ATLAS trading infrastructure, which routes most fees into buying back and burning the token.
  • Laggards: Starknet (STRK) fell 9.6% to about $0.08 after an 11% gain on Thursday, and stacks (STX) slipped 4.2%.

Derivatives cool down

Crypto futures volume fell 20% in 24 hours to about $200 billion, while open interest rose 2% to $142.21 billion. Liquidations dropped to $311 million from nearly $1 billion the day before (see Thursday's liquidation wave). Annualised funding rates for major tokens sat between 5% and 10%, and bitcoin's 30-day implied volatility index (BVIV) eased to 38% from 42%. On Deribit, the $80,000 bitcoin put was the most traded option, a sign some traders are still buying downside protection.

Macro backdrop

Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh declined to signal the central bank's next move in a speech at the IMF and World Bank meetings in Bangkok. According to CME FedWatch, the odds of an October rate increase fell to about 15% from roughly 30%. In Asia, South Korea's Kospi closed 2.05% higher and Japan's Nikkei 1.39% higher after Thursday's rout. New to the two biggest assets? Our bitcoin vs ethereum comparison explains how they differ.
