TRON founder Justin Sun says he has sold the bulk of his ether and put the money into US technology stocks, while leaving his bitcoin untouched. He laid out his personal allocation — outside TRON itself — in a roughly 3.5-hour conversation with host Jin Ming published on 17 October, Crypto Briefing reported; on-chain analytics account Lookonchain published a similar summary. These are his own statements, not a full balance sheet, and they could not be independently verified.
Ether: most of the "aggressive" position is gone
Sun said he cut about 80–90% of what he called his aggressive ETH holdings in the $3,600–$4,000 range — late last year, according to summaries of the interview — and now keeps roughly 20% as a base position he is watching. He said he has no plans to buy back, and that most of the proceeds went into US equities. Ether has since traded far below that range, at around $2,400 on Sunday.
Bitcoin: unchanged, but moved into "bunker mode"
Sun described BTC as a foundational holding and said he has not reduced it over the past year. He is nonetheless worried that risks from quantum computing and AI-driven attacks are not priced in, and said he has moved coins into cold wallets — fresh addresses that have never signed a transaction — as a precaution. Our guide on storing crypto safely explains why reused addresses matter.
Nvidia: the main stock holding
The chipmaker is his largest US equity position, which he treats as the "base" of his AI exposure and says he has not trimmed.
Nasdaq 100: held, despite a bearish lean
Sun said he holds a heavy Nasdaq 100 position even though he is slightly bearish in the medium term, citing crowded capital in a few giant companies and high interest rates. He has not opened short positions.
What he likes — and avoids
He said he owns no mainland China A-shares, is broadly negative on traditional assets, and is more interested in AI applications such as AI health management and in Web3, while being cautious on parts of the hardware sector.
Sun's split — bitcoin as the core, ether as a trade — echoes a long-running debate covered in our bitcoin vs ethereum comparison. Meanwhile, on the TRON side, Nasdaq-listed treasury company Tron Inc. recently filed a $200M share sale to buy more TRX.
