CME Group, one of the world's largest derivatives exchanges, plans to start offering bitcoin cash (BCH) and uniswap (UNI) futures on Monday, Oct. 19, pending regulatory review, opening a week in which crypto traders will also watch inflation data outside the US and Friday's flash PMI surveys. The calendar below is based on CoinDesk's Crypto Week Ahead; all times are UTC.
Crypto events

- Oct. 20: LayerZero (ZRO) unlocks 3.83% of its circulating supply, worth about $44 million.
- Oct. 21: CoinShares' bitcoin and ether ETF is scheduled to halt trading before the market opens as the fund is liquidated.
- Oct. 25: Humanity (H) unlocks 6.84% of circulating supply (about $15.27 million) and Plasma (XPL) 5.02% (about $17.76 million).
Governance votes
- Starknet holds a non-binding signal vote, ending Oct. 22, on researching a move to an independent post-quantum layer 1, the question we explained in Starknet's vote on leaving Ethereum.
- Arbitrum DAO votes until Oct. 22 on L1 pricing parameters for Ethereum's Glamsterdam upgrade (see our note on the Glamsterdam Hoodi test date), transferring 1,700 ETH to treasury strategies and adopting USDG as a strategic initiative.
- Optimism runs a veto-only vote, ending Oct. 22, on moving Unichain's sequencer operations and fee routing to the Optimism Foundation.
- ENS DAO votes until Oct. 25 on activating ENSv2 on mainnet, freezing v1 registrations while keeping existing names renewable.
Macro calendar
- Oct. 19, 12:30: Canada CPI for September.
- Oct. 21, 06:00: UK CPI for September (previous: 3.1% year on year).
- Oct. 22, 12:30: US initial jobless claims (forecast 200,000).
- Oct. 23, 08:00: Eurozone flash composite PMI for October (previous: 53.1).
- Oct. 23, 13:45: US flash composite PMI (previous: 58.4), followed at 14:00 by the final University of Michigan consumer sentiment reading (preliminary: 46.3).
PMIs, or purchasing managers' indexes, survey companies on output and orders; readings above 50 signal expansion.
Earnings
CME Group reports before the US open on Oct. 21 and Tesla after the close the same day. Nasdaq and Blackstone follow before the open on Oct. 22. Most of these companies' revenue is not tied to crypto, but CME's numbers will show how much demand its crypto futures are seeing.
Context
Bitcoin enters the week on firmer footing after China's GDP data lifted Asian stocks on Monday. The price snapshot above shows the latest prices from our data feed at build time.
