XRP holders are moving tokens onto exchanges at the fastest pace in seven months, while the biggest buyers have all but stopped withdrawing. In the 30 days to Oct. 19, 6.05 billion XRP flowed into exchanges tracked by CryptoQuant, the highest rolling total since March and double the level of mid-August, Cointelegraph reported. XRP traded near $1.30 at about 12:40 UTC on Tuesday, down roughly 0.8% over 24 hours, according to CoinGecko.
What the data shows
- Inflows up. Rolling 30-day deposits passed 6 billion XRP. CryptoQuant said this signals "a clear shift" of tokens toward exchanges, which could mean more trading activity or simply more movement between wallets and platforms.
- Whales quiet. The 90-day moving average of whale withdrawals from exchanges has fallen to $49.7 million, the lowest since October 2021. It peaked at $3.5 billion in February 2025, after XRP's early-2025 rally, so it is down 98.6%.
- Round trip. Over the same period XRP climbed from about $1 to as high as $1.70 before slipping back toward $1.30.
Exchange inflows are not the same as selling: tokens can be deposited to trade, to lend or to move between accounts. But rising deposits combined with fewer large withdrawals usually means less long-term accumulation. CryptoQuant said that without whale support XRP "could lack buying volume", while noting its resilience during this year's bear market. For the bigger picture, see why XRP is still below its 2018 peak.
Bitcoin: profit-taking cools
Bitcoin traded near $81,500 (about −1.2% in 24 hours, CoinGecko) after spending October between roughly $80,000 and $87,000. Glassnode's latest Market Pulse said the realised profit/loss ratio fell from 0.8 to 0.4 over the past week, meaning realised losses now clearly outweigh realised profits, a sign of more subdued sentiment.
What to watch
On the network side, an amendment that patches XRP Ledger's lending code could activate on Oct. 23, ahead of the launch of its lending features. If deposits keep rising without a pick-up in whale withdrawals, CryptoQuant's data would point to continued range trading.
