Solana's Accelerate China tour has postponed two more stops: the Hangzhou event planned for Sunday, October 18, and the Shenzhen event set for Tuesday, October 20. According to Chinese crypto outlet TechFlow, the organising team cited heavy oversubscription and the need to comply with local venue rules, said registrations would be kept, and promised to tell guests once new dates are fixed. The decision follows the abrupt postponement of the tour's opening event in Shanghai on Friday.
What happened in Shanghai
Solana Foundation president Lily Liu said on X that registrations for Accelerate Shanghai quadrupled overnight after publicity for the event, going "far" beyond the attendance cap the organisers had registered with local authorities, as Cointelegraph reported. The foundation postponed the event "to comply with local requirements," apologised to people who had travelled, and gave no new date. An earlier notice to guests had referred only to logistical issues at the venue.
Some users on X claimed police were present at the venue; Liu's statement did not mention that, and the claim has not been independently confirmed.

Why it matters
Mainland China still bans token fundraising, crypto trading and mining, and in February the People's Bank of China and seven other agencies tightened those rules, including a ban on unauthorised yuan-pegged stablecoins. Large crypto gatherings there are therefore closely managed by local authorities, and attendance caps are taken seriously. Separately, TechFlow reported that a company called Shanghai Solana Enterprise Management Co. has been registered, with Solana's China co-head Du Yanjing as legal representative — a sign the foundation still intends to build a local presence.
The reports did not say what happens to the final stop in Beijing, listed for October 22. The disruption comes in a busy week for the network, which is preparing its Alpenglow upgrade and has just received a Fidelity health check on its resilience.
